Module 1

The Balayage Basics

From the start, I want to set you up for success with the most important lessons in your entire Balayage learning journey. I believe in having a structured system to painting hair, teaching you to paint faster and more precisely, so that you can achieve the best results. Having the proper tools in your Balayage Tool Kit is the first step to that system. 

Next, you will  learn how to differentiate between balayage lighteners and what to look for when choosing your balayage lightener. Pairing the propers tools with the best performing lightener will put you on the fast track to balayage success.

Finally, you are going to learn my step-by-step training to have the perfect brush stroke. It’s the final piece of the Balayage Basics puzzle that will allow you to paint with precision and achieve the lift you have always wanted.

Module 2

The Balayage Building Blocks

Now that you have the Balayage Basics mastered, we can start strengthening your skills by learning the must-have painting techniques to achieve any look. (and let me let you in on a little secret, it’s just 2 simple techniques) These 2 simple, easy to master techniques will set you up for later modules where you’ll learn how to turn these 2 techniques into any balayage look. That’s right, any client, any look; so you can paint balayage every single day behind the chair.

Next, you will learn how to properly process your balayage. Nothing is worse than an under or over processed highlight. So, you will be walked through how to determine balayage processing timing and how to check for doneness. Also, you’ll learn the simple hack to speed up your balayage processing time while still maintaining the health of your guest’s hair. (Hint- it’s a heat-free approach!)

Finally, you will learn how to map out an entire balayage look so that you can determine the proper balayage placement for any look that is asked for in your chair. We will break it down section by section, paint by paint, so that you can finally paint balayage with confidence. And did I mention that you will be able to paint an entire head in 30 minutes?

One of the major benefits of being a balayage artist is the endless ways that you can customize your guest’s look. By taking the 2 simple techniques from Module 2, you will learn how to paint 6 different salon-friendly looks, that I call Everyday Balayage. 

These techniques are perfect for your guests that love the look of foil highlights, but hates the grow out. Maybe you have a guest that wants the balayage look, but she’s been getting foil highlights for years, and you need to transition her in one appointment.

Knowing your product costs and standard application amounts is the first step to not only pricing your balayage, but making sure your balayage and color services are profitable. Once we have those determined, you will then be able to set your balayage pricing with one simple formula. 

Now that your balayage pricing is set, I want to make sure you are Charging Your Worth. We will dive into service add-on’s, upgrades, and how to never be known as the “discount stylist”. You will start to develop the Balayage Mindset that will steer you away from structuring your services as partials or fulls. Instead, you will build your business where you always create a Full look, but with different maintenance options that are tailored to each of your guests.

When you ask the right questions, your consultation instantly becomes powerful, strong, and effective. That’s why I’ve developed the 6 Highly Effective Balayage Consultation Questions. 

Next, I will walk you through how to develop a plan after you’ve nailed your balayage consultation with your guest. The plan will include how you will execute the desired look your guest wants and the Balayage Maintenance Plan for future balayage appointments.

Now, we all have been in situations where a client’s expectations are far beyond what is possible with hair color. That is why I am teaching you my tried and true method (The EDD Method) to help manage client expectations vs. reality. You will have to be able to manage those unrealistic expectations, while still producing a balayage look that your client will rave about.
